Trends for unisex and gender neutral rooms have made a huge leap forward - we're not talking pastel yellow here, as in days of old! Not only are they perfect when the sex of the baby is unknown, but anything used within the design can be recycled for subsequent siblings.
To save you trawling Pinterest, Instagram and Google for the perfect design inspiration we have put together this handy guide containing the best nursery decor trends for 2019 and into 2020. Whether you are thinking DIY or ideas for your Pinterest boards, we have ideas for all.
We've categorised the decor ideas into our 7 top themes to make your decision a little easier and clearer.
1. Gender Neutral
Following on from the huge popularity of the Hygge trend last year, we have a new lease of neutral, boho inspired, gender neutral baby bedrooms. Think neutral walls with natural wood and wicker furniture and accessories and simple geometric wallpapers. A easy to pull-off design that will stand the test of time.

2. Totally Tropical
No more farmyard animal print wall coverings, this theme relies on some statement wallpapers and wall art. Choose oversize tropical and botanical prints with the inclusion of jungle animals to give it that playful feel. Mix it with modern and vintage natural material furniture and rugs.
3. Deliciously Dark
Many think that a nursery decorated in a dark colour scheme would give the room a feeling of being small and oppressive, but in reality what you get is a calming feel which emphasises the key pieces within the room. Choose large print wallpapers with a dark grey/blue background and gold accessories which will really stand out.
4. Over the Rainbow
We are a little obsessed with this trend which is super easy to pull off! Choose any utilitarian in white e.g.. furniture, curtains, blinds, bedding to give a blank canvas, then choose decorative items in all shades of bright!! Choose rainbow cushions, bright prints and frames in acid colours!
5. Oversized Florals
Think floral chintzy wallpapers on a huge scale! The key to pulling off this rustic style is most definitely the scale of the print - think big. Choose turquoise and pink tones and pair with plain white metal or painted furniture.
6. Planted
Think all things green and living - or not so alive as many of these botanical are in fact artificial, for safety and easy of maintenance! Choose white or pale neutral wall colours and add in anything wooden, wicker or painted white. Monogrammed items are very fashionable at the moment, so adding in your child's initials in an ornament would give a really special touch! Our personalised hanging pennant or ceramic heart with baby's name would make a perfect addition to this room style.
We hope we have given you some unique and interesting ideas for your own nursery. Good luck with your planning, and feel free to post any photos of your designs below!
